Everything’s Okay Here

Many people have been in touch over the past several days regarding my safety during Hurricane Sandy, and I’m pleased to report that we are fine. Living in one of the most elevated neighborhoods in Manhattan certainly has some advantages. Not being in a flood zone is one of those perks.

We live in a little basement bunker, so we were pretty blissfully unaware of the impending doom… Though, we did have a couple of potentially foolish moments in the evening where we surfaced to check out the wind on street level. It was pretty intense.

We wandered out this morning and took a little walk in the park to check things out… There was some tree damage.

The East River was up.

And James was pretty grumpy about getting wet…

For those of you who were also in Hurricane Sandy’s path, I hope you’re all safe and dry!

  1. Your picture of damaged trees is apocalyptic compared to the shovel that fell in my backyard. I live in Philadelphia, and that was the extent of Hurricane Sandy. Honestly, I wouldn’t have noticed there was a “super storm”, as the media billed it, if it wasn’t for my parents’ TV.

I think the news rocked more people than the actual hurricane did. >_< (But what's new, right?).

  2. Hi from the linkup!!

Is it crazy of me to kinda wish I lived on the east coast so I could have seen this storm of all storms in person?? Alas, the most exciting thing I get here in Alaska is a “tsunami warning” from the BC earthquake last week, resulting in a 3″ wave. Whoopdy doo.

  3. You guys are awesome, love the pic of grumpy James…Sandy should know better than to mess with a grumpy James! I truly am glad you guys are okay and didn’t get too much damage…better safe than sorry. Here’s to a quick recovery for all of NY & Jersey! Peace love & hominy xoxo
