When The James came home with not one but three different bundles of flowers, I was surprised and delighted… and then suddenly realized that three bundles of long stem flowers were mildly problematic when you own a grand total of zero vases.
So, I scurried around and I made do… I came up with a plastic cup with a skull on it, the cup from my milkshake maker and a martini shaker… and I got my scissors and cut them down a bit and made three little bunches of flowers.

We’re not really big on Valentine’s Day in our house. Nothing really against the holiday, but it’s just one of those things that really doesn’t blip on the radar much for me. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have even noticed the date at all if it hadn’t been for the fact that when my roommate, The Magician got home at half past midnight last night and wished me a happy one.
That pleasantly surprised me, too. I hadn’t pegged The Magician for one to come in wishing Valentine happiness, but The Magician is seems to be one of mystery and surprise. He always keeps me guessing.
Otherwise, my day was fairly ordinary.
In good news, I’m going to be starting a work study program with the yoga studio that’s in my neighborhood. They’re moving to a new, larger location and the new location is going to have a check-in desk. They decided that it would be a great way to get people involved with the community to offer the opportunity to work study in exchange for unlimited yoga classes. In two weeks from now, I’ll be starting a once weekly four hour shift checking people in to class!
It couldn’t have come at better timing… I was beginning to wonder how I was going to justify spending on yoga classes while I’m not working… and admittedly, I’d been dragging my feet about going to class because of the expense.
I also motivated to go to a class today, granted… it was at the other yoga studio that’s in the next neighborhood north, but I had bought 10 class card before the end of last year up there so that was already paid for. I just sometimes psych myself out about going up there because I’ve had shit luck with the trains.. There have been several times when I just barely missed the train I needed to catch to make it class with wiggle room and then the next train didn’t come on time.
I’m glad I went to it though. There were only three of us, and it was with one of my favorite teachers…. by the time I left, I was feeling great and I felt like I was walking a lot straighter than I have in a long time! It was glorious!
How about you? Do you do Valentine’s Day in your house?
Those vases…priceless!!

Ooh! That’s a good way to make yourself work out! I like it!
Seeing as how I’m perpetually single, Valentines Day is always a little depressing to me. I love the concept of it, but never have anyone to spoil on that day, so can’t ever really celebrate it. Maybe someday!

I’ve definitely done the same thing with flowers in the past! “Oh yay flowers…oh crap no vase but I have a plastic cup, I guess…” lol
That’s awesome that they offer a work study at your yoga studio! I just joined a gym with the hopes of taking some yoga classes, so I’m excited to start. I took two yoga classes a few years ago and liked it even thought it made me feel like death since I have pretty much 0 flexibility. lol
